PRE-ALGEBRA

Units of Study for this course include:

Unit 3 – Expressions, Equations, and   Relationships
                in Geometry
Unit 4 – Equations and Inequalities
Unit 5 – Transformational Geometry
Unit 6 – Statistics and Samples
Unit 7- Personal Financial Literacy
 
MATERIALS:
1 – 3 Subject Spiral
1 - Package of Colored Pencils / Markers / Crayons
1 - Package of Colored Paper
1 – White Eraser
1 – Package of Red or Colored Pens
1 - Personal Pencil Sharpener
1 – Box of Tissue
1 - Handsanitizer 
GLUE STICKS, Notebook paper and pencils as needed 
GRADING: 
Tests:                                                60%
a) There will be a minimum of three (3) grades from this category each six weeks.
b)  Projects – Scoring rubrics will be given to the students at the time the project is assigned.
Homework and Daily Work:             40%
      Assignments must be done in pencil, and due at the start of class.     
Quizzes:                                              
      This may include teacher made quizzes, pop quizzes, selected homework problems, binder checks, worksheets, and other miscellaneous assignments.  Re-quizzing is not allowed.
 

GENERAL POLICIES:

Make-up Work

Students with an EXCUSED absence from school are expected to make up work missed at the rate of one day for one day missed with a maximum of 5 days missed.  Students shall receive a zero for any assignments or tests not made up within the allotted time.

Students with an UNEXCUSED absence may not make up work missed; however, if the administrator determines that the unexcused absence is due to extenuating circumstances, make up work may be allowed.  The grade for makeup work after an unexcused absence shall be no higher than a 70.     

Late Work

    Late work will be accepted with a 10 point deduction from original grade up to 3 days after assigned.

CLASSROOM PROCEDURES:

Students will be responsible for walking in and immediately picking up all materials provided at the entrance of the room.
Students will be seated with a sharpened pencil and with homework ready to be graded, before the bell rings.
Students are expected to and will complete all lessons as instructed.
Students will follow the quiet signal used to focus students' attention. 
Students will complete Practice Problems in class and Homework will be given Monday-Friday.
Students will be assessed every Friday.
 
 

CLASSROOM RULES: 

  1. Bring all needed materials to class.  (Pencil, homework, colored pen, and binder)
  2. Be in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings.  (Pencils should be sharpened before the bell rings, paper and pencils should be out and ready for work, and warm-ups are to be started as soon as possible after entering the room.)
  3. Respect and be polite to all people.  (Listen and stay seated when someone is talking and behave properly for a substitute teacher.)
  4. Respect other people’s property.  (Keep the room clean and neat, pick up trash, return borrowed property, don’t write on the desks, and get permission before using another person’s materials.)
  5. Obey all school rules.
