AmandaTijerina is a graduate from the University of Houston with a Bachelor'sDegree in Biological & Physical Science. She majored in Chemistry and received a minor in Biology. After graduating in 2002, she moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for four years as a physical therapist assistant. Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, she moved back to her home town to raise her two children. She knew the realm of education was her passion and went on to receive her alternative teaching certificate via Region One and is certified to teach Science Composite8-12 and Physical Education EC-12. She began her teaching career atLyford CISD as an IPC/Physics teacher, followed by three years teachingChemistry at Harlingen South High School and has four years of experience as the science department head/chair while  serving as cross country, track and Girl's Head Basketball coach at San Perlita ISD. After recent family relocation, Amanda finds herself at Sharyland North Junior High eager to begin the next phase of her teaching career.
